One unexpected treat of the recent Wild Wild West Con was a chance to see the TV series Legend, which starred Richard Dean Anderson.  I always wondered what happened to the show.  Well, I knew it was cancelled after one season back when the UPN Network was in turmoil.  I never even saw all of the episodes.  Well we got to watch an episode and I was refreshed at how really good this thing is. And I realized you can still buy it on DVD You have to put in Legend Complete Series as Amazon has trouble finding just Legend for some reason.  Watching this was a real treat.  And, they filmed most of it right here in Tucson at Old Tucson Studios.

The concept is this western writer sort of becomes the hero he's been writing about and he's helped by a Hungarian inventor who seems to me to be a lot like Nikola Tesla. And this inventor helps Nicodemus Legend be a Western super hero with all sorts of inventions.  Frankly, this is what I love when I talk about Weird Westerns.

Alas, it didn't last very long and Richard Dean Anderson went off to Stargate SG1 and that was that. If you like this sort of thing, I can't recommend it enough.  This is as good as it gets . If you've ever liked a weird western or western oriented steampunk, check this show out.
